Gibson Les Paul Standard Faded Sunburst, production date: 1959, serial no. 9 0431
When Gary Moore sold his ’59 Les Paul once belonging to Peter Green for a horrendous sum and the same guitar resurfaced a little later on the internet for more than twice the price, prices for the few Les Pauls Standards made in the “holy” years from 1958 to 1960 skyrocketed. Only about 1500 of these guitars were built and this is one of them – made in 1959, featuring a wonderfully faded Cherry Sunburst, with a not-so-spectacular figured top for a change! These guitars have made the step from musical instruments to highly valued capital investments a long time ago.
