Gretsch Round-Up „Knotty”

If there really is such a thing as a true “cowboy guitar”, it surely must be the Round-Up by Gretsch. The model name hints at its use, roundup meaning nothing else but the cattle gathering prior to the long treck across the country. This beautiful Round-up from 1955 owes its nickname “knotty” to the twin knotholes in its pine top. Pine top? That’s right! Some of the round-up models were really made with a pine top instead of the more common maple top. This was the perfect match to the cowboy scenery due to its embossed leather tape on the body side, the stylized bull’s head on the headstock and the ornate tailpiece in the style of an magnificent belt buckle. Yeehaw!
